- Explore the drive in which you wish to create your shared folder. Most organisations already have a public drive available, so you may wish to select that.
If using mapped network drives you should refer to Microsoft KB297694 with reference to a common issue with mapping low drive letters.

- Within the selected drive, create a new folder and name it. E.g. Dictation

- Right click the new folder and select Properties.

- Select the Sharing tab, then the Share… button to continue.

- This will open the File Sharing dialog box. In this example the folder is to be shared with everyone.
- Use the drop down list to select Everyone or find specific people using Find….
By setting the permissions to everyone will make any troubleshooting far easier. You can adjust these settings to be more secure after initial testing. Unusual software behaviour commonly relates to permissions.

- To continue click the Share button.

- The folder is now shared and has been assigned a network path.
- Click Done to proceed.

- Click the Security tab and select Everyone from the Group or User list.
- Select Edit… to configure the permissions.

- A new window will open and permissions can be changed using the tick boxes in the lower half of the window. It is recommended to select full control.
