Security & Encryption

The DS-5000 and DS-5000iD provide excellent security features for both user and audio:

User/Device Security:

The DS-5000 family of recorders utilise 2 technologies to assist in securing the device against unauthorised use and access. The DS-5000 features PIN access while the iD version also features an integrated fingerprint recognition sensor.

  • Biometrics: Swipe your finger across the sensor mounted neatly in the rear cabinet to unlock the device. No need to remember a PIN
  • PIN: Easy to use, simply enter you 4 digit PIN using a uncomplicated entry method to unlock the device.

Both methods support up to 10 users per device and feature an automatic lock out mechanism if too many incorrect attempts are made to access the device.

Audio Encryption:

The DS-5000 / DS-5000iD models use 128bit real-time file encryption to protect audio against unauthorised playback. The encryption method used is AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). AES (AKA Rijndael) is a block cipher used worldwide as the encryption standard in organisations such as the US government. AES superseded DES (Data Encryption Standard) AES is one of the most popular algorithms used in symmetric key cryptography.
