No Sound
If you fail to hear audio playback in the Olympus software it can sometimes be easy to assume the software requires re-installation or there is a CODEC issue. In reality there can often be a simple resolution. Check the basic settings before you do anything else.
Check the speaker / headset connections. The port is usually colour coded in Green. PC's often have audio ports mounted to the front and rear of the PC. Ensure you try both.
Check the PC can playback native WAV audio.
- To begin, Select Start, Search.

- Select All Files and Folders in the left pane.

- Type *.wav as a search term and search Local Disk (C:)

- From the search results, select a larger file such as Windows XP Startup.wav and open.

- Windows Media Player should open and begin to play audio. This will confirm your computers audio is functioning correctly.

- If no sound is audible, check your volume controls.

- Also check the Master Volume control in Control Panel.

- If you still experience sound issues you should also try alternative method of connecting your headset or speakers. Many modern PC's feature multiple audio ports located in a variety of places. The audio out port is commonly colour coded in green. Depending on the design of your computer, the primary port is located on the rear of the PC. Other ports can be found on the front panel near a USB port (sometimes concealed behind a small hinged door) or on the side of the cabinet. You may also find audio ports on many monitors although these may not be colour coded. Please see your IT administrator or consult the PC's documentation for further clarification.
